Mr. Robert P. Cravey

Mr. Robert Pinkerton Cravey, 86, of Thomaston died July 21, 2011 at Providence Nursing Center.

Mr. Cravey was born on September 22, 1924 in McRae to the late Zack and Jane Cravey. He was a 1947 graduate of the University of Georgia. Mr. Cravey founded Bank of Upson in 1951 where he served as president and later as the Chairman of The Board until 2004. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII where he flew 45 bombing missions. Mr. Cravey was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served is many positions. He was a member of the Thomaston Kiwanis Club, the Sertoma Club where he received the Service to Mankind award in 2011. Mr. Cravey served as the Chairman for the Thomaston City School Board and also for the Red Cross for 30 years, and was the President of the Thomaston Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his daughters; Mrs. Mary and Danny Brinks of Thomaston, Mrs. Margaret and William Moseley of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Sarah and Randy Flanagan of Thomaston; brother, Mr. Zack D. and Joan Cravey of Atlanta; grandchildren, Margaret Brinks Brown, Katherine Brinks Timberlake, Katherine Ruth Flanagan, Virginia Fontain Moseley, William Walker Moseley, Robert Armistead Moseley, Zacharia Livingston Flanagan; great grandchildren, Preston Daniel Brown, Margaret Frances Brown, Ann Elizabeth Timberlake.

In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Nursery Fund at 132 Cherokee Road, Thomaston, Georgia, 30286 or the local Red Cross 3 Rivers Chapter at 900 Dallas Street Suite C, LaGrange, Georgia, 30240.

Visitation

Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church

Service

Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church

Interment

Southview Cemetery

Coggins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
